Happy New Year!

It has been a busy last couple weeks and it is going to be a very busy upcoming month.

For this week, there is no morning practice. The schedule is:

Monday - Fundraiser Happy Hour  for TakeDown Cancer at Chumly's in Waconia 4:30 - 6:30 PM.  50% of the sales and bartender tips will be donated to our TakeDown Cancer Event Tuesday night.

Tuesday - Home vs. Waseca, Watertown & St. Peter.  Wrestling begins 6 PM for varisty and JV.  We will wrestle 3 duals, starting with St. Peter at 6, then Waseca and then Watertown.  Wrestlers need to be there by 4:20 for set up.   If you didn't get your black Team Wichmann TakeDown Cancer Tshirt yet, please come to Chumly's to pick it up.  If you still need one, reach out to Jonie.  There were a few adult sizes ordered extra for the event.

Thursday at Delano .  The bus leaves at 4:15 sharp.  JV starts at 6:00 PM.  This will be a competitive team dual.

Saturday at Monticello for JV/V team duals.  Information will be sent out this week.  And there is a 9th grade tourney in Mound.  On Wednesday, wrestlers will know which tourney they are competing at.

RE-CAP:

During Christmas and New Year's we were up at the Rumble on the Red in Fargo.  This is a tournament with 80 teams that particpate from 6 different states.  We had 3 JV place winners: Lincoln Vick, Alex Torres, and Tate Wischnack.  We had 3 varsity place winners: Tim Stapleton 7th place, Tyler Wagener, Champion, and Cade Mueller, 5th place.  Our team took 7th place as a varsity team.  We had a few wrestlers just a win away from placing at this tournament.  This was a competitive 2 day tournament.  We brought up 38 wrestlers and had a great showing from parents and fans.

Last week, we were finally at home wrestling in front of our fans.  It was great to be there wrestling a tough conference team, New Prague.  It was an exciting dual.  We were down early and battled back to win 36-24.  Thanks to all who came out to watch the dual. We have a few things to get fixed in the new gym like the light and figure out the sound system.

Saturday, the team traveled to Mora to compete in an individual tourney.  The JV wrestled a great tournament with many of the wrestlers going 2-0 and some even going 4-0.  The JV and JR high kids work realy hard in the room and we are very excited on the progress they have made so far.    As for the varsity, we had 17 kids in the tourney and all 17 placed in the top 4.  There were 8 champions: Tyson Peitz, Max McEnelly, Tim Stapleton, Tyler Wagener, Cade Mueller, Bram Fitzsimonds, Jake Hawkins, and Bennett Weber.   The team won this tourney for the 6th consecutive year by 74 points more than the 2nd place team.  This is absolutely outstanding!

See you all tomorrow night!
